Happy Friday and welcome to the second edition of my

                                                             Friday Bookish Favorites!

A little inspiration for your weekend…

                                       WHAT I AM READING

There is no client as scary as an innocent man.

The Lincoln Lawyer at www.upcloseandbookish.com

THE LINCOLN LAWYER by Michael Connelly. It is an excellent legal thriller and it is book 1 of 6  in the Mickey Haller Series. Mickey Haller is a criminal defense attorney who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Car. His client, a young very rich real estate broker  is accused of attacking a woman and hires Mickey to defend him. Well things start to get very interesting very soon when the lawyer has to prove his own innocence for another murder! Prepare to stay up until 2 a.m to finish this! Unputdownable!

                                          WHAT I AM WATCHING

This masterpiece. THE CROWN, a Netflix series.

“Our very own goddess. Glorious Gloriana. Forgetting Elizabeth Windsor now. Now only Elizabeth Regina”                                                                                                                         (From the last episode of Season 1).

Season 1 of THE CROWN covers the years 1947-1955 and follows the early reign of the Queen after the premature death of her beloved father King George. It shows her relationship with the Royal Family, the special relationship she developed with Prime Minister Winston Churchill, it is full of historical events but, most of all, is the story of post-war Britain. You know the feeling when you discover a series that every character is exceptional? This is one of those series. The cast performances, the cinematography, the soundtrack (search for Duck Shoot by Rupert Gregson Williams), the direction, the writing…everything is exquisite. To be honest, this is the only series that after I finished it, I immediately went back and watched it again! I can’t recommend this series highly enough!

This is the official trailer to see for yourself.

                                       WHAT I AM LISTENING TO

Image from www.stownpodcast.org

S-Town is a new podcast from Serial and This American Life about a man named John who asks our host “to investigate the son of a wealthy family who’s allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But then someone else ends up dead!” A real life murder mystery? Very intriguing!

If you listen to/watch/read any of the above, do let me know in the comments what you thought! Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. I’m curious about S-Town. Maybe I will get to it someday. I’m currently just going through My Favorite Murder. I listen when I walk, so I really need to get up and moving more. haha

Is it a podcast? Do you recommend it?

  2. Have you finished S-Town? I’ve listened to three episodes so far. I have a business trip this week so I think I might listen to the rest then. The Lincoln Lawyer sounds really intriguing. It’s the best when you can’t put a book down!

Yes, it is brilliant but also really heavy… You have to be in the right mood for it. The Lincoln Lawyer is fabulous! Thank you for your comment!
